The Challenge
The primary challenge was clarity under regulation.
Key issues included:
Dense, technical compliance terminology
High cognitive load for first-time visitors
Lack of clear guidance on where to start or what actions to take
A strong need to establish credibility and trust
The goal was to make the content understandable without oversimplifying or misrepresenting regulatory requirements.

Strategy & UX Approach
I approached the redesign by prioritizing progressive understanding.
Reframed content to meet users at different knowledge levels
Structured information to guide users from high-level concepts to detailed requirements
Reduced cognitive load through clearer hierarchy and scannable layouts
Content and layout decisions were validated through stakeholder feedback to ensure accuracy and clarity remained intact.

Information Architecture & Content Design
To support comprehension and trust, I:
Reorganized site structure around user intent rather than regulatory language
Clarified page hierarchy and section labeling
Designed layouts that balanced readability with authority
Used visual rhythm and spacing to make dense content more approachable
These decisions helped users navigate complex material without feeling overwhelmed.

Impact
Improved clarity and accessibility of CMMC-related content
Reduced friction for first-time visitors navigating compliance concepts
Established a clearer educational pathway for organizations exploring certification
Delivered a maintainable structure for future content updates

Reflection
This project reinforced the importance of precision in regulated UX. Designing for compliance requires balancing clarity, trust, and accuracy, where visual simplicity must support, not dilute, the integrity of the information being communicated.
